PROJECT ONE
Sculptural Installation
Students were required to create a sculpture that is site specific and offered opportunities for the viewer to interact with the piece. Additionally, students were to collaborate on this project. Students were broken into group of four and five and were encouraged to seriously consider the process necessary for creating a work of art.
Below is a video clip that shows the process of their creations and later the final products.

Below are samplings of pictures of the installations in place in the hallways
Here's a quick video of an interview about impressions of the installation
PROJECT TWO
3D Perspective
Students created 3D mazes for the purposes of understanding perspective better. This project will be followed by a 2D drawing of a specific space/area of the mazes
PROJECT THREE
Creating the Appearance of Perspective
Now that students have constructed mazes, they get to create two dimensional compositions that supports their creation. Students take what they have learned piecing together various materials, working meticulously; and draw out the environment. Below are stories that students wrote that would offer further enjoyment and information.

In the early 1200’s, medicine in England wasn’t important. It consisted of a wagon, inexperienced doctors, and outdated medical supplies. However halfway across the world medical advancement was beyond what England could ever imagine. Schools dedicated purely to the improvement of medicine, 500 bed hospitals, and supplies all over the country. But, that is not where our story starts.
Robb Cole, a young barber (which was the name for a doctor at the time), had only known what his mentor, Edgar, had taught him. 1) To close wounds, burn them, 2) to relocate a limb, crack it back into place, and many other rules. Most importantly there was no anesthetic. As soon as Robb heard of advanced medicine he told Edgar that he had to leave and study this great medicine.
So, Robb left. On his journey, he encountered many obstacles. The worst one was in the desert. Robb was traveling with a caravan of 12 two-humped camels, and 15 men. Since only so many could ride the camels and ride in the carts, Robb was forced to walk, which came to his advantage. Three months into the trip, and huge sandstorm hit and many people in the caravan were unable to make it out alive.
Robb and another man called Jesse were the only ones who survived the storm. They walked for miles, trying to find the school that Robb wanted to go to but it was very hard. With little water and no food, two could not survive. Jesse eventually died of thirst and Robb was forced to make the journey alone but he could not leave Jesse’s body. Robb crafted a small cart with some wood the two had brought with them from the sandstorm. Robb had one mission- get to the great Physician's school safely with Jesse’s body.
Wheeling the heavy cart, Robb climbed dunes and what felt like mountains of sand. He had burned skin and parched lips and was sometimes unable to breath. Robb was sure that he would die before he made it to the school. However, he pressed on.
Just as Robb took his last sip of water, he saw it. It looked like a castle. The Physician’s school. Once he got in the school he was immediately treated. Robb was given classes in medicine and went on to make great discoveries. And most importantly, Jesse was buried in the place that he wanted to be.

Maze Through Paris

Once upon a time there were two little mice who lived in a dumpster in an alley in Paris. One was a boy named Aspen and the other was a lovely girl mouse named Adeline. But there was one thing the Adeline didn’t know, which was that Aspen secretly loved Adeline. And Aspen didn’t know that Adeline secretly loved Aspen. One day Adeline told Aspen to meet her at the top of the Eiffel Tower just before sunset, to prove that he loved her as much as she loved him. But before Aspen could respond to Adeline she scurried away towards the direction of the tower. In Aspen’s heart he knew he wanted, but he thought about if Adeline was telling the truth or it was all a joke. Aspen didn’t want to be embarrassed, but he had to trust his heart’s desire. So Aspen started off into the city until he realized he had never really left their alley and gone out into the city. And before he knew it he was lost in the streets of Paris. Aspen spent about ten minutes wandering the streets until he saw the Eiffel Tower just over a tall building. Aspen quickly scurried through the building blocking his way from his true love and came out from the other side. And there was Adeline waiting for him. And they lived happily ever after. The End.

This is a story of two sisters. Their names were Mari and Lila. Mari was always adventurous- she was outside almost all the time, and she absolutely loved animals. Lila, however, didn’t like nature. Lila was always scared of something hurting her- a bee stinging her, tripping over something- so she stayed inside most of the time. Lila drew in her room while Mari would go outside and explore. One day, Mari decided to take Lila into the forest. Mari thought they could play a game or two- she knew Lila didn’t mind games. They had to be careful, though, for there was a beast that dwelt in the woods. The beast hadn’t been seen, but it had certainly been heard. There were rumors of what the beast looked like. Some said the beast had wings, others said it was wolf-like. Mari made a plan: She would stay only in the front of the woods, where it was safer. Mari knew she could get Lila out of her room somehow. Lila reluctantly agreed, and went to the front of the woods with Mari. When they got there, Lila and Mari were surprised to see there were gates where there were no gates before. Mari opened up the gates, and they walked in. The gate made a loud clicking noise behind them, and before they knew it, they were locked in. Mari and Lila struggled to open the gates back up, but nothing happened. Lila of course panicked, and Mari tried to comfort her. They wandered through the maze, looking around themselves, completely aware of their surroundings. They heard a low growling behind them, and immediately ran. Mari looked back, and saw a large wolf-type thing running after them. Lila and Mari kept running until the creature was out of sight. Mari and Lila slept that night under a tree, but they did not sleep soundly. That morning, Lila and Mari continued walking. They eventually found an exit, and both vowed never to go back into those woods again.

There was once an ocean that got multiple shipwrecks and crazy storms. There was a boat called S.S Mystery that would go from island to island bringing people to the places they need to go. One day there was a storm greater than any other but the boat always went, out so it still took its journey. When the boat was out the storm came, tossing and turning the boat. The boat was unable to make communication with land and soon got lost unable to find any land. The waves crashed up to the boat ruining all the electronics on the boat leaving them lost and stranded.
The next morning the boat found itself in the middle of nowhere with all of its navigational devices dead. It was stranded in the middle of the ocean. So the captain decided to try to go East by the way the sun came up. The boat traveled for about five hours until it ran into a sea monster. With spiky horns and large teeth it stood about 100 ft over the water towering over the boat. It snarled and started to wrap its slimy tentacles around the boat's hull. The boat's captain brought out his pistol and started firing towards the monster. The monster was fated and slowly unwrapped his tentacles letting the boat escape.
The boat travelled for about another day fighting waves, avoiding sharks and making multiple turns trying to find its way home. When the boat finally returned the captain was awarded with a medal of bravery and a new boat, and the passengers got a free lifetime of boatrides.

It had been a while since I saw anyone else around this area, I slowly crept out of my hiding place and scanned the area, being careful not to make myself too visible. The second I realized there was a large object swimming towards me, it was a second too late. I swam away from my sister, laughing my head off. Even though I am a the daughter of Poseidon, and I live above the water, it doesn't mean I can come down and play a simple game of tag. I dived behind a rock right before my sister appeared. She swam past me, oblivious of the fact that I was there. I let out a sigh, tired from swimming.
I decided that it was time to go home, but right before I swam away, something caught my eye. I swam closer to it, cautiously, making sure it wasn’t dangerous. I gasped, it wasn’t dangerous but it was a sight to see. It was a fox, but it was breathing underwater as well as I was. It stared directly at me, it´s big blue eyes matched with our surroundings. I swam an inch closer and it darted away. ¨Hey! Wait up!¨ I shouted swimming after it. I payed no attention to my current surroundings as I chased after the strange creature, my curiosity taking over my sense.
As the fox finally came to a stop, I stopped to look around me. Oh no! This is the dreaded maze mother was talking about! No one has ever escaped from it alive! I turned around and tried to escape but the door closed just as I swam up to it, bruising my shoulder. Rubbing the injury, I looked up at the net ceiling, if I tried to escape, I would surely get caught in the net and I would die. My only option was to go through the maze. I looked around for the fox, my plan was to follow it to the end, but it was gone….
