Mrs. Benson's Art Curriculum for 2015-16
It is my goal that your child has a clear understanding that everything that they do, whether in the arts, sciences, compositional writing - everything - has an impact upon someone and that they should do everything to the best of their abilities.
A child may have talent, or not; so the child who has to work at a particular skill, maybe more appreciative and finds pleasure in the acquisition of that skill because they have accomplished/conquered - where there was nothing becomes something of value. Conversely, the child who has talent may find it easy to produce a particular task therefore, must be encouraged to take risks outside their abilities, so that they too can grow/learn. Both student types must be goaded out of what is comfortable into unknown territory. They must be willing to fall so that they can bounce back - better than before.
Most importantly, students develop, hone skills and work to make a positive difference in our world through whatever means available to them, (Life Lesson I)
