Project One
Self Portraits & Distortions
Fourth rotation eighth graders started slightly different than the other rotations; they seemed to come in knowing just what to do, given great examples from the previous rotations. Because of their zeal I started with the distortion self-portrait - something a bit more spicy and a tad of a challenge. Their interpretation of the assignment is very intriguing.
PROJECT TWO
Interpreting Music all the way THROUGH to Art
Collaboration
Students were challenged with creating images based upon the music of Soon Hee Newbold's Fire Dance. This was a piece selected by Ms. Shaw for her orchestra students' May 2016 concert. A sampling of eighth grade work is provided here and on the seventh grade, rotation four link, are other samples and as well as process videos that showcases the seventh grade's collaborative efforts. Everyone did a wonderful job
PROJECT THREE
Line Self Portraits
Students were to consider their futures as they "mapped" out their faces on old maps, using the lines of the map as edges for their faces.
